Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies need for computer information system by conducting feasibility studies to determine practicality of converting manual operations to data processing systems. Identifies system workload requirements by conferring with clients and data processing specialists. Determines new system configuration by studying, analyzing and evaluating system factors, such as number of users, reporting requirements, volume of transactions, access restrictions, power supply specifications and security conditions. Satisfies workload requirements by recommending purchase or modifications of computer and peripheral equipment; planning or revising layout. Ensures economic feasibility of conversion by conducting cost analysis of converting manual systems to data processing systems. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Ensures the integrity of the information system by performing applications, reviews and audits. Prepares users to operate application by planning and conducting technical training programs and subject matter seminars in the new/revised management system. Maintains system performance by monitoring use and output and maintaining log files. Contributes to the efficient operation of the unit by performing duties and tasks reasonably related to the features of this class in a cooperative and collaborative manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development or experience equivalent to the completion of a Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics. statistics or an equivalent discipline and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a programmer, systems analyst or other equivalent position or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Approved advanced training may be substituted for experience. Attendance is an essential function of this position. Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the general public required.
Hours of Work:
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
Position requires in office attendance.
