Violent Crime Victims Advisory Committee
The Violent Crimes Advisory Committee consists of 18 members, chaired by the Attorney General and including designees from the Illinois Secretary of State; the Chief Justice of the Court of Claims; the Director of Children and Family Services; 2 members of the House of Representatives, 2 members of the Senate.
The Advisory Committee studies the operation of all Illinois laws, practices, agencies and organizations which affect victims of crim. It also recommends legislation to develop and improve policies which promote the recognition of the legitimate rights, needs, and interests of crime victims.
The Committee also believes in advocacy and outreach. It works to make necessary outreach efforts to encourage the development and maintenance of services throughout the State, with special attention to the regions and neighborhoods with the greatest need for victim assistance services.
